  10. WinTach is a Microsoft Window's 3.1 based benchmark program which provides a
  11. tool for estimating how Windows 3.1 applications will run on your system. 
  12. Note that WinTach requires Windows 3.1 in order to run.  It will not run
  13. under Windows 3.0!
  14.  
  15. WinTach tests the most important Windows 3.1 API calls as determined by 
  16. extensive profiling of commercial application sessions.  It encapsulates 
  17. these API calls with realistic program logic to accurately simulate the type 
  18. of graphics intensive application sessions encountered in today's work place.
  19. The results are evaluated and displayed as the RPM, or Relative Performance 
  20. Measurement, which estimates the performance of your Windows workstation
  21. running real applications.

  23. WinTach may be freely copied and distributed with all files intact and
  24. unmodified.

  33. To run WinTach,
  34.  
  35.     1.  Copy the wintach.exe and wintach.hlp files to your hard drive or
  36.         network drive.
  37.  
  38.     2.  Add WinTach to one of your program groups.  
  39.     
  40.         a.  From the Windows 3.1 Program Manager, select File/New... and 
  41.             click on "Program Item".  
  42.             
  43.         b.  In the "Command Line" prompt of the Program Item Properties 
  44.             dialog box, enter the drive, directory, and filename where
  45.             WinTach was copied.
  46.  
  47.         c.  Click "OK".
  48.  
  49.     3.  Run WinTach by clicking on the WinTach program icon.  See the WinTach
  50.         help system for complete usage and program description information.
