WinTach v1.0
Applications Oriented Benchmark for Microsoft Windows
March 30, 1992
WinTach is a Microsoft Window's 3.1 based benchmark program which provides a
tool for estimating how Windows 3.1 applications will run on your system.
Note that WinTach requires Windows 3.1 in order to run. It will not run
under Windows 3.0!
WinTach tests the most important Windows 3.1 API calls as determined by
extensive profiling of commercial application sessions. It encapsulates
these API calls with realistic program logic to accurately simulate the type
of graphics intensive application sessions encountered in today's work place.
The results are evaluated and displayed as the RPM, or Relative Performance
Measurement, which estimates the performance of your Windows workstation
running real applications.
WinTach may be freely copied and distributed with all files intact and
unmodified.
The following files are included:
wintach.exe WinTach Program file
wintach.hlp WinTach Help file
To run WinTach,
1. Copy the wintach.exe and wintach.hlp files to your hard drive or
network drive.
2. Add WinTach to one of your program groups.
a. From the Windows 3.1 Program Manager, select File/New... and
click on "Program Item".
b. In the "Command Line" prompt of the Program Item Properties
dialog box, enter the drive, directory, and filename where
WinTach was copied.
c. Click "OK".
3. Run WinTach by clicking on the WinTach program icon. See the WinTach
help system for complete usage and program description information.
